Below are examples of the training modules we can use to put together a bespoke training package to meet your specific business management & leadership needs. Use these as a guide to aid you in identifying areas you wish to develop your people.


Core Module - Understanding Management & Leadership (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Describe effective Management and Leadership.

  • Explain the differences between the two terms and why both are necessary.

  • Formulate a set of personal objectives asking "how can I improve my skills to become a more effective Manager / Leader?"


The Assertive Manager / Leader (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Define assertiveness.
  • Explain why this behaviour gives you the best chance of getting a desired outcome.
  • Use assertiveness when dealing with direct reports, peers, managers and customers.
  • Exercise practical techniques that will help you control your own emotions and influence others in a positive way.
  • Use assertiveness to achieve a successful outcome.


Goal Setting (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Explain the power of clear goal setting in achieving positive results.
  • Use practical goal defining methods, from SMART to a range of NLP thinking techniques, to increase the likelihood of success as a Manager and Leader.
  • Formulate a personal, measurable business goal to work on following the program.


Communication Skills (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Identify how to communicate effectively when managing performance as well as having those difficult conversations (e.g. giving and receiving criticism, giving and receiving praise and saying no).
  • Identify the barriers to effective communication and develop techniques to overcome them.
  • Analyse the different modes of communication including the use of words, tone and body language.


Conducting Effective Meetings (2 hours) - (Modules 1-4 are pre-requisites for this module)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Lead a productive meeting / briefing and avoid common mistakes.
  • Use a simple template to ensure meetings / briefings deliver a return on the investment of the time spent.
  • Identify how to behave as a leader and as an attendee to ensure the meeting's objectives are achieved.


Problem Solving Tools for Managers (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Use a toolkit of management problem solving tools including:
    • Appreciation
    • Drill down
    • 5 whys
    • Fishbone diagram
    • Brain storming
    • Weighted grid analysis
    • SWOT analysis
    • Basic project planning.


Maximising Team Performance (4 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Understand the dynamics of teams and what makes a great team.
  • Understand the stages of the life cycle of a team and recognise where your team is.
  • Have a strategy for moving your team to where you want it to be.
  • Explain the core functions of a leader of a team and be able to carry them out.
  • Identify your leadership style and the effects different styles have on a teams' performance.
  • Ensure that every member of your team understands their job roles, accountabilities and responsibilities.


Motivation (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Identify what motivates you personally.
  • Identify what motivates others to perform as directed.
  • Identify what motivates individuals to perform under their own initiative.
  • Focus on areas that will enable you to get the very best from your team.
  • Explain the link between motivation and the clarity of job roles and accountabilities.


Organisation skills (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Identify your role in order to meet the business objectives.
  • Use a tool that enables you to distinguish between urgent and important, reactive and active positive tasks.
  • Recognise which tasks you should complete yourself and others that can be delegated.
  • Explain and be confident to use the 10 levels of delegation.
  • Use commonly available tools to manage your time efficiently (e.g. MS Outlook, task lists, diaries and planners etc.)


Developing your team (2 hours)

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Explain the benefits of developing people in your team.
  • Identify the link between skills development and performance.
  • Understand the benefits of pre and post training evaluation.
  • Identify the skills and knowledge required in your team (e.g. TNA)
  • Work with training teams to compose training plans.
